There are maybe only a few people who don’t like the “Harry Potter” films, and “Doctor Strange” actress Tilda Swinton happens to be among them.
But Swinton has a good reason for it. The actress attended West Heath boarding school in London and has described her time there as “hell” and a “very lonely and isolating environment.”
“That’s why I dislike films like ‘Harry Potter’ which tend to romanticize such places,” Swinton told The Scots Magazine in their December issue. “I think they are a very cruel setting in which to grow up and I don’t feel children benefit from that type of education. Children need their parents and the love parents can provide.”
Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the “Harry Potter” movies. The series, which began with “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” in 2011 and culminated with “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2” in 2011, starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith.
The films have grossed over $2.4 billion at the domestic box office. The saga continued with last month’s release of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” starring Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston.
