Trump supporters have taken to Twitter to shame Lena Dunham after she said President Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 election has helped her lose weight.
“Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food,” Dunham said Monday on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show. “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.’”
One Twitter user wrote, “This is the same Lena Dunham that once sat naked on a toilet eating cake,” while another tweeted, “By the end of Trump’s 8 years, maybe she won’t look like a land whale and therefore be thankful.”
Dunham was an outspoken Hillary Clinton supporter who once promised to move to Canada if Trump won the election. She has since backed off that position, telling Stern it “seemed like an impossible joke.”
The “Girls” star and creator explained that she told herself, “The most qualified candidate we’ve ever had is running against a steak salesman. We’re going to be fine.”
“I really don’t care if a guy in the Midwest calls me fat, or a Republican tells me what an idiot I am – you can’t have that much negative energy directed at you without there being some cost to your emotional and personal life. I am public about that because I think it’s important to say,” Dunham recently told The Guardian.
Meanwhile, another Twitter user wrote, “Lena Dunham says Trump’s win has effected her so much, she’s lost weight. Bad news is that she still looks like a hideous, golem-like troll.”
