Illumination Productions, whose documentary "Journey Out of Silence: The Heather Whitestone Story" aired on PBS stations across the country, has signed a first-look deal with Kaufman Films, the production company behind "The Real Housewives of Orange County."

Illumination was launched by former Fox News Channel anchor Carol Iovanna, an Emmy-winning journalist who got her start as a reporter at WABC-TV and WCBS-TV.

Illumination has a slate of dramatic, reality and documentary projects aimed at various cable networks.

Among the first projects being pitched under the agreement withwriter-director-producer Kevin Kaufman is an inside-showbiz reality show in development, and "Proof," a reality crime series that recently was presented to A&E.

Kaufman Films, in addition to producing Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Orange County," also produced "The 100 Scariest Movie Moments" for Bravo and "Watching the Detectives" for A&E.

Kevin Kaufman won an Imagen Award for the TV documentary "The Palladium: Where Mambo Was King."
