Tyler Oakley Talks Meeting Lady Gaga, Going Offline for ‘Amazing Race’ (Video)

“My queen knows who I am,” the social-media star tells Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s “Tonight Show”

Social-media star Tyler Oakley finally got a chance to meet his pop idol, Lady Gaga, working the red carpet at Vanity Fair’s Oscar after-party on Sunday.

“It was like a dream come true,” Oakley told Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s “The Tonight Show.” “She’s my ultimate No. 1, I’d take a bullet for her.”

“We had crossed paths so many times but I’d never gotten a chance to introduce myself,” the spiky-haired personality said. “I was like, ‘Hi, I’m Tyler Oakley.’ And she goes, ‘I’ve seen you. You’re on billboards.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, no!’”

The mutual recognition caught Oakley by surprise — despite the fact that he has more than 8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. “My queen knows who I am,” he gushed.

Oakley also discussed what it felt like to completely unplug from the Internet — and his precious cellphone — to compete on the current season of CBS’ “The Amazing Race” with his pal Korey Kuhl.

“Once you get on the race,” he said, “you completely forget that you’re turning in your phone. No phone. The first day, I felt like I was missing a limb. Day two was like heaven.”

Still, Oakley said he did feel some pangs that he was missing out on major pop culture moments while shooting the competition series last November — like the release of Adele’s new album “25.”

“I just needed to know if it was good,” he said. “No matter where I was in the world, I was asking the locals not for help or directions but, ‘Have you heard the Adele album?’”

Being the millennial social-media guru that he is, Oakley also helped Fallon do a Face Swap on Snapchat.
