Universal Sets Release Date for Third Film in Monsters Universe

What will go bump in the night on Feb. 15, 2019?

Universal Pictures

Universal will release the third film in its Monsters Universe on Feb. 15, 2019. The project, which remains untitled, will follow the June 2017 release of Tom Cruise‘s “The Mummy” and another mystery monster movie due in April 2018.

Johnny Depp‘s “Invisible Man” movie could be the 2018 film, while the 2019 release could be either “Bride of Frankenstein or a “Wolfman” movie … or another creature feature entirely.

The creative team of Alex Kurtzman (“Star Trek”) and Chris Morgan (“Fast & Furious”) are overseeing Universal’s Monsters Universe.

The only other movie slated for release in February 2019 is Paramount’s “SpongeBob Squarepants 3,” which will open on Feb. 8 — one week before Universal’s latest monster movie.

In other release date news, Universal has announced it will release an untitled R-rated comedy on April 20, 2018 against an untitled New Line tentpole. April 20 is a counterculture holiday popular with marijuana enthusiasts who are no doubt the target audience for a raunchy comedy.
