‘Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus Recalls His Strangest Fan Encounters (Video)

As breakout star Daryl Dixon on AMC’s hit zombie show, Reedus has some of the most passionate and eclectic fans

Norman Reedus is a wholly original character on AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” as Daryl Dixon is not a character who exists in Robert Kirman’s Image Comics series of the same name. Nevertheless, he quickly became arguably the most popular character on the show, thanks to his riveting performance.

That popularity has netted him many passionate fans, including some who have presented some rather unusual requests, as he recalled during his visit to “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Thursday night.

Kimmel had a picture of Reedus holding a chicken, which simply demanded that its story be told. “There was a lady that walked up in a trenchcoat and she was sort of nervous and she goes, ‘Will you hold my chicken?’” Reedus recalled. “She opens up her trenchcoat and pulls out this chicken … so I held her chicken.”

Reedus went on to add that the woman explained this was her comfort animal. But even this wasn’t the strangest fan interaction he could recall.

“There were two sweet girls who came from Tokyo to meet me,” he said. “One had a video camera and the other one had a water bottle with the label off. They unscrewed it and they go, ‘Please blow.’”

They wanted him to breathe into the bottle, and after he did so they sealed it up. “They were so adorable and they took my breath back to Japan,” he said.

“They took your breath away,” Kimmel added.

“The Walking Dead” Season 5 premieres Sunday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
