Bloom scores upset win for role in “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”

Rachel Bloom could barely contain her excitement during a jumbled but endearing acceptance speech after her Golden Globes win  for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.”

Bloom, who won for Best Actress in a TV Series, Comedy, stars as Rebecca Brunch in the CW series, which she also created. She talked about the difficulty of getting “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” picked up by a network.

“We almost didn’t have a show,” Bloom said. “We made a pilot for another network and they rejected it … We got six rejections in one day and we felt like crap but we knew it was good.”

Bloom was nominated in the category alongside Jamie Lee Curtis for “Scream Queens,” Julia Louis-Dreyfus for “Veep,” Gina Rodriguez for “Jane the Virgin,” and Lily Tomlin for “Grace and Frankie.”

The 73rd Golden Globes are hosted by Ricky Gervais and are taking place at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
