‘Fight Song’: See the Star-Studded Number That Rocked Democratic Convention (Video)

A cappella production by Elizabeth Banks, Bruce Cohen and Mike Thompkin excites crowd following Bill Clinton’s speech

Bill Clinton is a tough act to follow, but the Democratic Convention’s video for “Fight Song” had the crowd at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on its feet and singing along when it was played just minutes after the former president left the stage.

The video, produced by Elizabeth Banks, Bruce Cohen and Mike Thompkin, featured actors, musicians and Hillary Clinton supporters singing to Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.”

The a cappella production was inspired by the “Pitch Perfect” films, which are produced by Banks, who had spoken earlier in the evening. The actress, who hosted the second night of the Democratic Convention, also appeared in both “Pitch Perfect” films and directed the second.

“This is for Hillary,” the performers proclaimed before launching into the 2015 pop hit.

Meryl Streep took the stage just after the video ended to talk about how hard it is to be the first woman “anything,” much less the first woman president.

“We have some fight left in us, don’t we?” the Oscar winner said.

Music has been a huge part of the Democratic Convention: Paul Simon and Alicia Keys are among those who have already performed, and Lenny Kravitz was expected to take the stage at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night.
