Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig Get Bloody in First Trailer for Lifetime Movie ‘A Deadly Adoption’ (Video)

“90210” alum Jessica Lowndes co-stars in campy take on TV movie genre

Some sort of dangerous confrontation on a bridge goes down in Lifetime’s newest movie of the week, “A Deadly Adoption.”

Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig co-star as a married couple who take care of a pregnant 20-something (“90210” star Jessica Lowndes), whose baby they plan to adopt. But of course, everything goes awry.

Ferrell’s character plays chicken with an oncoming truck, Wiig’s character wields a gun, and Lowndes’ character is “a very strange girl,” a fact that makes her giggle, in the first brief clip from the film.

When news of the movie was leaked to the press — on April Fool’s Day, no less — it was followed quickly by reports that the project would be canceled. That turned out to be the joke, and the movie, as seen here, is very much real and coming soon to Lifetime.

Ferrell serves as an executive producer through his and Adam McKay‘s Gary Sanchez Productions with Mar Vista Entertainment and National Picture Show. Rachel Lee Goldenberg (“Escape From Polygamy,” “Love at the Christmas Table”) directed the movie, which was written by Andrew Steele (“The Spoils of Babylon”). Steele also executive produced.

“A Deadly Adoption” will premiere on Lifetime on Saturday, June 20.
