Katy Perry came out swinging for the closing number at the 2013 MTV VMAs.
Perry delivered her first-ever live performance of her new single "Roar" at the awards ceremony, held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Apropos of the song's catchphrase "I got the eye of the tiger" — a nod to the theme song from "Rocky III," the best Rocky movie ever, bar none, performed by rock legends Survivor — Perry performed in a boxing ring, showing off her pugilistic skills as well as her pipes.
She danced. She swung. She jumped rope, people.
