’22 Jump Street’ Trailer: Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill Are Going Back to School (Video)

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum go to college in the red-band trailer for the “21 Jump Street” sequel

For two guys who went to high school twice, college must have been a faraway fantasy.

But that’s exactly where officers Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are going in the red-band trailer for “22 Jump Street,” the sequel to Sony Pictures’ 2012 hit comedy “21 Jump Street.”

The trailer dispenses with the absurdity of the title and the extension of the franchise right up front in the most meta of ways.

The two cops must then figure out how to fly under the radar at frat parties and study halls; considering both actors are in their 30s (well, Jonah Hill turns 30 on Dec. 20), that’s a bit of a challenge.

Of course there’s a case they must solve, something having to do with finding a drug dealer, but the real story is how these two bumbling cops can grow up and relate to one another on a mature, professional level.

“22 Jump Street” is slated to premiere on June 13, 2014.
