‘Game of Thrones’: George R.R. Martin Goes Beyond the Wall (Video)

"Game of Thrones" featurette includes a guided tour from author George R.R. Martin

A new "Game of Thrones" featurette takes fans of the HBO series beyond the Wall with the best possible tour guide: George R.R. Martin.

The author of the fantasy book series, "A Song of Ice and Fire," from which the show is adapted, explains the ways of those who do not kneel to any of the Seven Kingdoms.

Mance Rayder (Ciarán Hinds), better known as the King-Beyond-the-Wall, is one of the characters living free from any reign. Instead, they live in the wild, past the Wall that is defended by the Night's Watch.

"Mance is a wildling by birth, but he was captured as an infant by the Night's Watch, who they brought back and raised," Martin explains. "Instead of being the leader of the Night's Watch, he became a leader of the enemy. And a very dangerous enemy because he knows a great deal about the Night's Watch."

Viewers will get to know him — and a host of other new characters — when the show's third season premieres March 31.
