‘A Christmas Story’ Live Fox Musical Casts Its Ralphie

Matthew Broderick and Maya Rudolph also appear in the Dec. 17 production

Fox’s “A Christmas Story Live!” has found its Ralphie Parker.

The three-hour live musical production will star 11-year-old Andy Walken from Seattle, Washington. More than 350 applicants were in the mix for the coveted part in the project that airs Dec. 17.

Walken joins previously announced cast members Matthew Broderick, who narrates, and Maya Rudolph, playing Ralphie’s mother.

“Christmas Story Live” is based on the 1983 film and subsequent Tony-nominated Broadway adaptation. Peter Billingsley originated the role of Ralphie in director Bob Clark’s movie that has become a holiday staple.

The live TV musical hails from Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television and counts Marc Platt (“Grease: Live,” “La La Land”) and Adam Siegel (“Grease: Live”) as executive producers. Jonathan Tolins and Robert Cary (“Grease: Live”) serve as co-executive producers and writers.

Alex Rudzinski (“Grease: Live”) is the live television director, along with executive producing. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“Dear Evan Hansen,” “La La Land”), who scored “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” will compose a number of new songs for the TV version.
