Abbe Raven, Nancy Dubuc Promoted at A&E Networks

Dubuc rises to president and CEO of A&E Networks, Raven named chairman

Abbe Raven has been promoted to chairman of A&E Networks, while Nancy Dubuc has been upped to president and CEO of the company, the network said Monday.

Dubuc, who was formerly president, entertainment and media, A&E Networks, is the third CEO in the company's 30-year history. In her new capacity, she will oversee day-to-day operations of the company. A&E's brand groups and business divisions will report Dubuc in her new capacity.

Raven (left), meanwhile, who has served as president and CEO of the company since 2005, has been moved to the newly created position of chairman of the company. In her new capacity, Raven will spearhead the company's long-term business and revenue opportunities, along with public policy initiatives.

Both Raven and Dubuc will report to the A&E board of directors, with Dubuc reporting to Raven as well.

Raven and Dubuc will assume their new positions June 1.

Raven praised Dubuc as a "decisive leader" who will take the company "to new heights" in a release announcing the promotions.

“I am delighted that our next president and CEO has been chosen from within our own ranks once again," Raven said of Dubuc's promotion. “Nancy is one of the most talented executives working in media today-a decisive leader, with her hallmark drive and determination. I am so proud of what Nancy, the management team and our employees have accomplished and I know they will take A&E Networks to new heights.”

Dubuc declared herself to be "incredibly humbled" by the promotion.

“I am incredibly humbled by the opportunity to lead a company I love so much,” Dubuc said. “Abbe has been a great mentor and partner for over 10 years. She created a corporate culture at A&E Networks where creativity thrives and as a result we cultivated some of the most powerful global brands in media. The biggest lesson I learned from her is that a great leader is nothing without a great team. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their continued support as we write this next chapter together. We have a powerful portfolio of brands that are well-positioned for future growth, both domestically and internationally.”

During her tenure as president and CEO of A&E, Raven tripled the company's earnings and expanded its global portfolio, overseeing A&E's 2009 merger with Lifetime Television.

In her previous capacity, Dubuc oversaw content creation, brand development and marketing for the A&E portfolio, which includes A&E Network, Lifetime and History.
