Ratings: NBC Sitcom ‘Abby’s’ Experiences a Sobering Premiere

CBS dominates Thursday with Sweet 16 hoops action

NBC might need a drink after Thursday’s “Abby’s” debut, which settled for a 0.5 rating/2 share among adults 18-49 and 2.6 million total viewers.

With some NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16 action, CBS pretty easily topped primetime last night. That said, due to the nature of live sports, the below fast-national Nielsen numbers for CBS are subject to change.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.6 rating/7 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 6.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. Those were the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. averages of Florida State-Gonzaga and Texas Tech-Michigan.

ABC was second in ratings with a 1.0/5 and in viewers with 5.3 million. “Grey’s Anatomy” at 8 posted a 1.5/7 and 7.3 million viewers. At 9, “Station 19” had a 1.0/4 and 5.5 million viewers. “For the People” at 10 got a 0.6/3 and 3 million viewers.

NBC was third in ratings with a 0.6/3 and in viewers with 2.9 million. “Superstore” at 8 had a 0.8/4 and 3.4 million viewers. At 8:30, “A.P. Bio” got a 0.5/3 and 2.4 million viewers. “Will & Grace” at 9 received a 0.7/3 and 3.3 million viewers. “Abby’s” followed at 9:30; NBC aired a rerun afterward.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 0.5/2 and in viewers with 1.4 million.

Telemundo was fifth in ratings with a 0.4/2 and sixth in viewers with 1.2 million.

Fox and The CW tied for was sixth in ratings, both with a 0.3/1. Fox was fifth in total viewers with 1.3 million, airing all repeats; CW was seventh with 933,000.

For The CW, following a rerun, the “Legacies” season finale had a 0.3/1 and 937,000 viewers.
