ABC Developing Legal Thriller From Shonda Rhimes’ Company

"How to Get Away With Murder" will center on a group of law students and their brilliant criminal defense professor

ABC is developing a new drama from "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland production company.

"How to Get Away With Murder," which is being produced by ABC Studios and Shondaland, is described as a "sexy, suspense-driven legal thriller about a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant, mysterious criminal defense professor who become entangled in a murder plot that will rock their entire university and change the course of their lives."

"Grey's Anatomy" producer Peter Nowalk is writing and executive producing.

Earlier this month Rhimes and Shondaland partner Betsy Beers sold to ABC a comedy about a group of friends who are brought together after an unexpected series of events. Overall, Shondaland has placed four projects with the network for the 2014-2015 development season, including the police drama "Made in Jersey" and another legal drama, "Lawless."
