ABC Family’s ‘Shadowhunters’ Adds Alberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia

The duo will play Simon and Isabelle, respectively, opposite Dominic Sherwood’s Jace

ABC Family’s “Shadowhunters,” the straight-to-series adaptation of Cassandra Clare’s “The Mortal Instruments” novels, has added Roberto Rosende and Emeraude Toubia to the cast led by Dominic Sherwood, the network announced Friday.

Rosende will play Simon Lewis, the best friend to series lead Clary Fray, while Toubia will play Isabelle Lightwood, a Shadowhunter.

“Shadowhunters” will follow 18-year-old Clary, who finds out on her birthday that she is not who she thinks she is but rather comes from a long line of Shadowhunters — human-angel hybrids who hunt down demons. When her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious Shadowhunter Jace (Sherwood) and her best friend, Simon.

Simon is described as intelligent and very handsome in a non-calculating sort of way, and the first to find humor in any given situation. Isabelle, described as model-beautiful and as lethal as she is attractive with her weapon of choice — a whip.

“Shadowhunters” is produced by Constantin Film and executive produced by Ed Decter and McG, who will also direct the first episode.

Rosende, who most recently appeared on an episode of “Blue Bloods,” is represented by Innovative Artists and MZMGMTNY. Toubia, best known for Spanish-language series like “Voltea Pa’Que Te Enamores” and “Costa Linda,” is repped by Liam Scholey and Andres Budnik at Vision Entertainment.
