ABC has promoted Jamila Hunter to Senior Vice President of Comedy, the broadcast network announced Friday.

In her new position, Hunter will manage ABC’s Comedy Department, overseeing the development and production of all comedy pilots for ABC Entertainment.

“As one of our industry’s most accomplished executives, Jamila has been instrumental in ABC’s comedy resurgence,” said ABC President Channing Dungey in a statement. “She brings a unique perspective to this important role, and I’m thrilled to have her leading our efforts.”

Hunter’s promotion comes on the heels of the exit of Samie Falvey, the network’s previous executive vice president of Comedy, who departed or AwesomenessTV in August.

During her tenure at ABC, Hunter oversaw development of shows such as “black-ish,” “Fresh Off the Boat” and “The Real O’Neals,” as well as Tim Allen‘s “Last Man Standing,” which is now in its sixth season.

Hunter previously worked in comedy at NBC, Fox and OWN.
