ABC Studios Shakeup: Nne Ebong Replaces Michael McDonald as Senior VP, Drama Development

McDonald is launching his own production company with the studio

It's another week, another changing of the guard at ABC Studios.

Michael McDonald, ABC Studios' senior vice president of drama development, is stepping aside from his position to start his own production company, Steams Castle, at ABC Studios, the company said Tuesday. McDonald will be replaced by Nne Ebong, who's being promoted from drama development vice president to senior vice president, drama development.

In his new capacity, McDonald — who shepherded series such as "Nashville," "Revenge" and "Scandal" to success — will develop comedy and drama series for network, cable and alternative platforms, as well as creatively consult on various ABC shows. He'll also step in creatively when necessary to help guide those shows.

Ebong, who has been with the studio since 2006, has overseen the creative process for shows such as "Lost," "Brothers & Sisters" and "The Ghost Whisperer."

Last week, ABC Studios announced that Barry Jossen is stepping down as the head of the studio. Jossen, like McDonald, will also pursue production.

Patrick Moran, to whom Ebong will report, is succeeding McDonald as executive vice president. Moran, who has been with ABC Studios since 2010 and brought companies such as Fake Empire and Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland to the studio, was previously the senior vice president of drama at 20th Century Fox Television.
