Activision Blizzard announced Tuesday that advertising-industry veteran Eric Hirshberg has been named CEO of Activision Publishing.
Arriving from advertising firm Deutsch L.A. and starting on Sept. 7, Hirshberg will oversee Activision Publishing’s entire studio, managing everything from product development to consumer marketing.
Hirshberg takes over for Mike Griffith, who was promoted to vice chairman of parent Activision Blizzard.
Hirshberg will report to Activision Blizzard COO Thomas Tipple.
Hirshberg spent 13 years at Interpublic Group shop Deutsch, building the Los Angeles office into a prominent firm noted for its work in multimedia creative. Clients included Sony PlayStation and Volkswagen.
“We believed it was vital to have a leader who was a dedicated gamer, inspired creative thinker and possessed the ability to manage and lead creative talent in a manner that produced both superior products and provided superior shareholder returns,” said Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.
