The end is here.
FX dropped the official trailer for Season 8 of “American Horror Story,” aka “Apocalypse,” on Wednesday, showing Ryan Murphy fans what the end of his world will look like when the series returns one week from today.
In the 1-minute, 15-second preview of “AHS: Apocalypse,” too much is happening to even begin to unpack, but it is clear everything is going to hell, literally, as Michael Langdon (Cody Fern), aka the Antichrist, is all grown up and everyone is forced underground.
The clip opens with chaos reigning in Los Angeles, as Leslie Grossman and Billy Eichner attempt to get to a private plane (he does NOT want to be left in Santa Monica). She makes it, but he doesn’t, and she’s joined by Evan Peters’ new character, “AHS” newcomer Joan Collins and returning Billie Lourd.
But that trip lasts about five seconds before the plane starts going down and suddenly Sarah Paulson’s Venable (one of three characters she’s playing this season) is welcoming everyone underground to “Outpost Three,” where we’re hiding from radiation. We should note everyone down there is in period clothing and not allowed to, um, hook up. Kathy Bates also pops in, as we see cuts of the weird torture going on in the outpost.
Then the “Coven” crew makes an appearance, in all their witchy glory (including Paulson back as Cordelia and Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery), before Michael Langdon shows up to ask, “What do you think?”
“Hail Satan,” Bates responds. Oh my.
“Apocalypse” stars a slew of franchise alums, including Peters, Paulson, Bates, Grossman, Eichner, Roberts, Lourd, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Adina Porter, Cheyenne Jackson, Gabourey Sidibe, Lily Rabe, Stevie Nicks, Dylan McDermott and, as TheWrap exclusively reported, Connie Britton. Oh, and let’s not forget the biggest surprise return of all: Jessica Lange. Add to that series newcomers Collins and Fern and you have a recipe for a true world-ender.

“American Horror Story: Apocalypse” will premiere Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 10/9c on FX.
