Al Gore to Hit Campaign Trail for Hillary Clinton

Bill Clinton’s former veep will talk climate change with voters

Former Vice President Al Gore will soon hit the trail on behalf of Hillary Clinton, according to Politico.

The site said that the Clinton campaign could announce Gore’s involvement as early as Wednesday and Bill Clinton’s former veep will likely focus on the issue with which he’s most commonly associated: climate change.

Gore endorsed Clinton last Summer, noting the “global climate crisis” as a reason for supporting the Democratic nominee.

Gore has a long political history, serving as vice president under Bill Clinton. He was the Democratic presidential nominee in 2000 and won, until he didn’t. News networks declared Gore the winner, but the state of Florida needed to recount its votes and a series of technicalities resulted in Gore conceding to George W. Bush.

“I like to think a lot of things would be different,” Gore recently told Wired regarding the hypothetical state of the union were he to have won the 2000 election. “I would have done my best to put a price on carbon and taken a number of other steps. I certainly would not have invaded Iraq. There’s a long list of things I like to think would have turned out differently, but it’s pointless, in my opinion, to go down that road, because it’s just fantasy.”

Gore has dedicated a large portion of his public life to climate change, which he calls “the greatest threat we face as a nation.”
