Al Gore to Lead Current TV’s Convention Coverage

Al Gore will lead a roundtable panel including Eliot Spitzer, Jennifer Granholm and Cenk Uygur

Al Gore is heading back on the campaign trail — albeit as a media figure this time.

The former vice president and founder of Current TV will lead his network's coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, Current said Wednesday. Coverage of the RNC begins Aug. 27 at 7 p.m., while the DNC coverage begins Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

Gore will head up a roundtable panel consisting of himself, "The War Room" host Jennifer Granholm, "Viewpoint" host Eliot Spitzer and "The Young Turks" host Cenk Uygur.

California lieutenant governor Gavin Newsom will also contribute to RNC coverage.

David Shuster and Michael Shure will report from both conventions. Current TV hosts Joy Behar and John Fugelsang will also contribute to coverage, with Behar heading the coverage of the DNC in Charlotte.

“I’m pleased to be participating in Current TV’s impressive line-up throughout the Republican and Democratic National Conventions,” Gore said. “Cenk, Jennifer and Eliot provide the keen insight and spot-on analysis our viewers have come to expect, combined with decades of experience in public service and a deep understanding of politics. I have no doubt that our coverage will be innovative and informative, and I look forward to working with them.”
