Alan Rickman, who died Thursday at age 69 following a battle with cancer, received an appropriate tribute in a new cartoon for The New Yorker, featuring a pair of familiar faces from his film career.

The cartoon, by Benjamin Schwartz, depicts Harry Potter and “Die Hard” hero John McClane sitting at a bar and toasting Rickman.

“Here’s to the best damned antagonist a guy could ask for,” McClane says as the two clink glasses in Rickman’s honor.

Rickman played Professor Severus Snape in the “Harry Potter” films, as well as villain Hans Gruber in “Die Hard.”

Schwartz posted a sketch of the cartoon on his Twitter account, revealing that his initial concept included another character.

“Originally had Sarris from Galaxy Quest in there, too, but didn’t want to make it too busy,” Schwartz noted. “Possibly a mistake.”
