Kendall Jenner has been receiving a lot of criticism for a recent Pepsi ad that depicted her discovering a protest and handing a police officer a can of Pepsi. However, she’s got one unlikely person coming to her defense: Alec Baldwin.

The actor took to Twitter on Wednesday to defend Jenner’s decision to star in the ad, putting the blame instead on other people.

“Don’t blame [Kendall Jenner] for that spot,” he wrote. “Kendall is still a very young, inexperienced woman in an awful business. Blame her management.”

Baldwin said he remembers when the model was a student in school with his daughter, Ireland. He stressed Kendall’s age in her ability to make the correct decisions for her career. By the way, she’s 21.

Baldwin continued to defend Jenner in his mentions as people responded with criticisms of their own.

“So, at what age should @KendallJenner be responsible for herself?” asked one user.

“Well, Jeff, Id giv her a bit more time 2 develop courage/ability 2 make her own, better decisions. U obviously know f*** all about show biz,” Baldwin responded.

Many high-profile names criticized Jenner and the ad for being “tone deaf” and for missing the point of activism. Bernice King, the daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., took to Twitter in one of the most memorable responses.

“If only Daddy would have known about the power of #Pepsi,” King wrote, in a caption of her father being physically held back by a police officer.

In one of its statements, Pepsi apologized to Jenner, taking responsibility for the ad completely missing the mark. The company also pulled the ad.

“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the company said in a statement. “Clearly we missed the mark, and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further rollout. We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
