Alice Eve Plays Butch to Matthew Broderick’s Sundance in ‘Dirty Weekend’ Clip (Exclusive Video)

The film will have its U.S. release on Sept. 4, following its debut at Tribeca Film Festival in April

In an exclusive clip for “Dirty Weekend” starring Matthew Broderick and Eve” target=”_blank”>Alice Eve, the two work colleagues have an intense moment following an adventure to explore the past of Broderick’s character.

In the film, Les (Broderick) and Natalie (Eve) are delayed at the Albuquerque airport, when Les heads downtown. Natalie refuses to stay behind and follows Les, during which she discovers that his trip has a purpose. As the duo discover each other’s secrets, they develop a rapport.

In the clip, Les thanks Natalie for helping him over the course of their “dirty weekend.”

“I appreciate what you did to me. All of it. Everything,” he tells her. “Thanks, Butch.” He references bank robber duo Butch Cassidy and his accomplice Harry Alonzon Longabaugh, a.k.a. the Sundance Kid, who were active in a world of crime in the late 1800s and famously played by Paul Newman (Butch) and Robert Redford (Sundance) in the Oscar-winning 1969 movie.

“You’re welcome, Sundance,” Eve‘s character, Natalie, responds.

At the beginning of the film, Les and Natalie debate on who is Butch and who is Sundance in an effort to decide who’s in charge of their dirty weekend.

“You just assume you’re in charge, you just assume that you’re Butch,” she says. “But you’re not Butch… You’re Sundance!”

Directed and written by Neil LaBute, and produced by Duncan Montgomery, Tiller Russell and Joey Stewart, the film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival on April 19. The film will be released in theaters and on VOD on Sept. 4.

Eve is best known for her roles in “She’s Out of my League,” “Star Trek Into Darkness” and HBO’s “Entourage.” Broderick’s credits include “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “Inspector Gadget.”

Eve and LaBute have worked together before in the film, “Some Velvet Morning,” in which Eve plays a mistress alongside Stanley Tucci.
