Actress and activist Alyssa Milano is asking “all Americans who want to use their voices for positive change” to tune in to #StateOfTheDream initiative on Tuesday, Jan. 30 as counter-programming to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address.

“Our digital #StateOfTheDream address will support our dreamers and immigrants, call for a DREAM Act, lean into the Senate, fundraise for United We Dream, and express our vision for a more inclusive, progressive America,” Milano said in a press release Friday.

Milano said that the organizers will provide a social media toolkit and invites the public to create 60-seconds or less videos describing their dream for America, what they hope for and what inspires them. All videos will be posted with the hashtag #StateOfTheDream on social channels, where comments will be welcome.

The day before, on Monday, Jan. 29, Mark Ruffalo and a score of other celebs are scheduled to participate in “The People’s State of the Union,” an event designed to unite artists and activists who vow to defeat Trump’s agenda by turning out the vote and winning backing Congress in November.

The live-stream event will take place at New York City’s Town Hall and include a gathering of progressive organizations (MoveOn.org, We Stand United, Stand Up America, People for the American Way, among others) and celebrities including Mark Ruffalo, Whoopi Goldberg, John Leguizamo, Michael Moore, Wanda Sykes, Zoe Kravitz, Cynthia Nixon, Kathy Najimy, Fisher Stevens and Rosie Perez, with Andra Day and Common performing.

“In essence, it’s a better reflection of our state of the union based on a more populist point of view, based on the people’s point of view,” Ruffalo told People. “I think it’s important because we have a president who has a difficult time with the truth, who has a radical, divisive agenda, and spends an enormous amount of time focusing on the negative and hopelessness and despair.”

“The People’s State of the Union” will be available live-stream Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. ET at www.peoplessotu.org.
