Amazon’s Morgan Wandell Exits Company to Join Apple

Exec is heading up Apple’s international TV development

Morgan Wandell has exited Amazon Studios and is joining Apple as head of international and creative development for TV.

The executive, who served as head of international productions for Amazon, will now report to Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht. The latter left Sony Pictures Television for Apple over the summer to lead video programming.

Wandell had been with Amazon since 2013, where he helped develop such series as “The Man in the High Castle” and the upcoming John Krasinski-starring “Jack Ryan.”

The move comes at a tough time for Amazon. Roy Price resigned this week as head of Amazon Studios amid sexual harassment accusations, while David E. Kelley recently criticized the streamer’s brass as “in way over their heads.”

Apple is eyeing a big content push, having added former WGN America president Matt Cherniss to the team and earmarking $1 billion for original programming.
