“Orange Is the New Black” star Pablo Schreiber has joined the cast of Starz’s “American Gods,” TheWrap has learned.

The actor is playing the series regular role of Mad Sweeney, replacing Sean Harris, who dropped out as the pilot started filming.

Ricky Whittle stars in the adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel, which portrays a war between the old gods of biblical and mythological roots and a new group of gods “reflecting society’s modern love of money, technology, media, celebrity and drugs.”

Emily Browning and Ian McShane also star. Michael Green and Bryan Fuller will act as showrunners and executive producers, while David Slade will direct.

Schreiber’s Mad Sweeney is a down-on-his-luck leprechaun having a hard time understanding how he lost his charm and his way. Always up for a good fight, Sweeney is never deprived while in the employ of Mr. Wednesday (McShane).

The actor is best known for his role as “Pornstache” on Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” and he also recently starred in Michael Bay‘s “13 Hours.” He is represented by ICM and Circle of Confusion.
