Happy Friday! Allow Ryan Murphy and “American Horror Story” to kick your weekend off on a seriously creepy vibe.
The “American Horror Story” Twitter account released a tantalizing new snippet for the upcoming season, “Cult,” on Friday, featuring a woman wandering through a honeycomb-like structure as arms reach out for her from the walls.
What the the 15-second clip lacks in length, it makes up for in chills-inducing imagery: At the end, as the woman reaches out in a seeming attempt to escape, her hand is exposed to the camera, revealing a cult-like symbol marking her palm.
“You’re within reach,” the video is captioned.
While series co-creator Murphy has indicated that the upcoming season, which premieres Sept. 5, will somehow involve last year’s presidential election, he’s also hinted that the season will touch on bees, or at least bee-like behavior. A clue posted to Murphy’s Instagram account earlier this month depicted a person covered in bees, while Thursday saw the release of an official poster for the seventh season that depicted, literally, a “hive mind,” in the form of a woman with the top of her skull removed, a beehive in place of her brain.
Give Murphy credit: He definitely knows how to build a buzz for his show.
