‘American Hustle’ First Trailer Asks ‘Who’s the Master: the Painter? Or the Forger?’ (Video)

The con man, played by Christian Bale, clearly believes its the latter

The first trailer for "American Hustle" teases the film's plot on the fact that "People believe what they want to believe."

In the trailer, con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale) asks Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper), "Who's the master: the painter? Or the forger?" using a fake Rembrandt as an example of how to pull of a successful con.

"American Hustle" is the story of the duo, who were forced to work with the feds to turn the tables on other cons, mobsters, and politicians.

The David O. Russel film sports an all-star cast, also including Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K., Robert De Niro and Jennifer Lawrence.

The film comes out Dec. 25. Consider the trailer an early Christmas present.
