‘Idol’: Jim Carrey’s Daughter and Another Contestant Fall — One Literally (Video)

Show ends on a cliffhanger about fallen contestant. Ouch

Jim Carrey's daughter, Jane, was cut from "American Idol" on Wednesday's episode — but at least she didn't fall off the stage.

Sixteen-year-old Symone Black had just finished her performance of "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" and was chatting with the judges about why she'd chosen the classic tune when she slipped.

"I wanted to reach out to an older crowd," she said, and then fell before anyone on the judge's panel could take umbrage.

Producer Nigel Lythgoe and others rushed to her. Judge Steve Tyler said he thought she had hit her head. Host Ryan Seacrest, knowing a cliffhanger when he saw one, advised viewers to tune in Thursday night to "find out what happens to Symone."

Meanwhile, 24-year-old Jane Carrey got the boot after her underwhelming performance of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Looking Out My Backdoor." She shared her dad's words of encouragement after he heard the news.

"He said, 'I've been said no to a bunch of times,' and it worked out for him well, so hopefully I have a shot," she said.
