Amy Adams will star in a drama series based on Gillian Flynn‘s bestselling novel “Sharp Objects,” TheWrap has learned.

Adams will play Camille, a journalist who is tasked with covering the murders of two girls after returning to work from a stay in a mental institution.

The series has no US distributor yet, but is being shopped to cable and streaming networks and Entertainment One is worldwide distributor.

Marti Noxon will write and serve as showrunner, while Flynn will potentially write episodes for the series.

The all-star creative team also includes Jean-Marc Vallée (“Dallas Buyers Club”) as director and Jason Blum as executive producer. Vallee, Blum, Adams, Flynn and Noxon will all EP, along with Blumhouse’s Charles Layton

eOne optioned the book before Flynn’s “Gone Girl” became a phenomenon and an Oscar-nominated David Fincher film.

Adams will star in Vallée’s Janis Joplin biopic “Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can” and next reprises her role as Lois Lane in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” She is represented by WME.
