‘Anchorman 2’ Fans Can Set Early Date With Ron Burgundy – for a Price

Paramount expands its premium “super ticket” option which will enable moviegoers to see the comedy sequel two days early

It’s established that Ron Burgundy can sell Dodge Durangos. But can San Diego’s top-rated newsman convince moviegoers to shell out for a premium-priced early viewing of “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”?

Paramount thinks so, which is why they’re teamed with AMC Theaters and Fandango to offer “super tickets” enabling moviegoers to see “Anchorman 2,” featuring Will Ferrell as Burgundy, two days prior to its nationwide debut on Dec. 20.

It’s an expansion of the program the studio launched this summer with Brad Pitt‘s “World War Z.” Paramount hasn’t disclosed the cost of “Anchorman 2” premium tickets, but moviegoers who ponied up $50 for super tickets to the zombie thriller saw it two days early, received an HD digital copy of the movie, a small popcorn, RealD 3D glasses and a poster.

The studio wouldn’t say Monday how much money it took in from the “World War Z” super ticket promotion, which was available in five cities, but it was clearly enough to try it again, and this time it will be available nationwide.

Paramount said details of the offer will be revealed to fans who registers at www.AnchormanMovie.com/superticket ahead of the official on-sale date of Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Christina Applegate, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and David Koechner join Ferrell in “Anchorman 2.” It’s written by Ferrell and director Adam McKay, and produced by Judd Apatow, Ferrell and McKay.
