Andrew Lack Bolts Broadcasting Board of Governors as Top NBC News Job Awaits

Insiders familiar with the situation say Lack is in final stages of negotiations to take over as chief of NBCUniversal news group

The writing on the wall for a shakeup at NBC News has become more voluminous with former NBC News president Andrew Lack quitting his position as CEO and Director of the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

As TheWrap reported, Lack is in talks with NBC News over the top role, overseeing NBCUniversal News Group which houses NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC.

NBC News told TheWrap there is no announcement from them today regarding Lack’s potential employment.

His arrival would spell the end for Pat Fili-Krushel as Chairman of NBCUniversal Group, the position she’s held since 2012. NBC News President Deborah Turness’ role could also change as Lack joins.

Lack’s potential arrival comes after a series of embarrassing scandals, led by the suspension of Brian Williams for six months without pay after it was revealed he exaggerated a story about being aboard a helicopter shot down by RPG fire during the Iraq War.
