The “Angel” cast will celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary with a panel at New York Comic-Con this fall. Minus Angel himself, David Boreanaz.
On Tuesday, NYCC announced a reunion has been set with stars Charisma Carpenter, James Marsters, J. August Richards, Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker for the fan convention, which runs October 3-6. Noticeably absent from that lineup is Boreanaz, who played the titular vampire detective on the Joss Whedon-created “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff.
Boreanaz previously hinted during a March appearance on “The Talk” that something was brewing for the 20th anniversary of “Angel” in October, but he told TheWrap last month that he didn’t “know what’s going to happen.”
“It’s funny, whether it’s the 10th or the 15th or the 20th, everybody always wants to know what they’re going to do or if there is gonna be some kind of reunion, whatever that may be,” Boreanaz said. “I don’t foresee any major things happening. I just think that getting everyone together would be great. I don’t know how that would happen because there’s so much going on and I’m shooting. So we’ll see, but nothing hugely planned. I may have teased something, right? But, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“Angel” ran for five seasons and starred Boreanaz, Carpenter, Denisof, Richards, Marsters, Acker, Mercedes McNab and the late actors Glenn Quinn and Andy Hallett.
Representatives for Boreanaz did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment as to why the actor will not be in attendance.
The confirmation you Angel fans have been waiting for… the cast is reuniting at #NYCC19 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Angel, and they have a message for Y-O-U.
