‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ Kicks Off Production With Teaser (Video)

The summer 2018 sequel will see Michelle Pfeiffer as the original Wasp

While Marvel fans have been raving about the humor of “Thor: Ragnarok,” the lavish visuals of “Black Panther,” and of course, that “Avengers: Infinity War” trailer that only a select few at D23 and San Diego Comic-Con have seen, there’s also another MCU film on the horizon. On Tuesday, Marvel Studios announced that director Peyton Reed, Paul Rudd, and the stars of “Ant-Man” have gathered on set to start production of the July 2018 sequel, “Ant-Man & The Wasp,” with filming set to take place in Atlanta and San Francisco.

The announcement was accompanied with a brief teaser showing the director’s chair and two doll-sized chairs for the film’s titular shrinking superheroes. Set after the events of “Captain America: Civil War,” where Ant-Man revealed his Giant Man mode for the first time, “Ant-Man & The Wasp” will see the surprise return of Janet Van Dyne, the long-lost wife of the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, who fought alongside him as the original Wasp back in the 1980s. At Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con presentation, it was announced that Michelle Pfeiffer, who famously played Catwoman in “Batman Returns” 25 years ago, will return to the world of comic book movies to play Van Dyne.

“Ant-Man & The Wasp” arrives in theaters July 6, 2018.
