News Corp. Names Antoinette Cook Bush Executive VP and Global Head of Government Affairs

News Corp. announced the split between the publishing and entertainment arms of the company last June

Antoinette Cook Bush has been appointed as the executive vice president and global head of government affairs for Rupert Murdoch's new News Corporation, the company announced on Wednesday.

Bush will take over her new position, based in Washington, D.C., starting June 24. She will report to Robert Thomson, CEO of the new News Corporation.

News Corporation proposed splitting itself into two independently traded businesses last June, one housing its publishing assets, the other boasting its more lucrative film and television businesses.

Two other executives earlier had been named for the company. Anoushka Healy, the group managing editor for the Times and the Sunday Times in London, was named chief strategy officer, and William Lewis, who joined News Corp. in 2010 to help run the British newspaper group News International, was promoted to chief creative officer.

Bush joins the publishing arm of News Corp. from Skadden, Arps, Meagher & Flom LLP, where, over her nearly 20-year tenure, she rose to become the partner in charge of its Communications Group. In this role, she represented leading media/entertainment and telecom entities in regulatory, legislative and transactional matters.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Robert and his team at the new News Corporation at such a momentous time in the company’s journey,” Bush said in a statement. “Having worked with News Corporation for many years as a legal advisor, I’m honored to have been asked to serve this important role from inside the company."
