Apparition Whittles Staff Once More

Latest round of cuts leave Bill Pohlad’s decimated indie distribution company with only a skeleton crew; company said to be shopping Terrence Malick’s “Tree of Life” to other distributors

The decimation of indie distribution company Apparition continued Tuesday, with eight more employees getting pink slips, an executive close to the company confirmed.

The cuts follow a round of layoffs last month that saw 15 of Apparition's 27 remaining employees leave the building.

Apparition has Terrence Malick's "Tree of Life" produced and ready to go in its pipeline, but company owner Bill Pohlad is said to be in talks with other distributors to put out the film.

Apparition's downward spiral began in May, with the surprise departure of co-founder Bob Berney.
