Apple has booted an application used by Hezbollah to stream its Al-Manar Lebanon-based satellite network from the iTunes store.
A spokesman for the Anti-Defamation League told TheWrap that media monitors at his organization sent a letter to Apple last Friday after it found the app advertised on Al-Manar's website. Apple removed the app on Sunday.
"It was identified by a member of the monitoring team, who saw that they were promoting this app," ADL spokesman Todd Gutnick said.
Apple, which does not normally make public statements about removing apps, did not immediately respond to requests for comment,.
Al-Manar, the English- and Arabic-language broadcasting arm of the Islamist militant group, was added to the U.S. Department of State's Terrorism Exclusion List in December 2004.
Though it remained available on Google Play (pictured) much of Tuesday, but was removed from the online market early Tuesday evening, a Google spokeswoman told TheWrap.
