Apple Schedules Event for Oct. 23, iPad Mini Expected

Apple's iPad mini may also share the stage with a new, thinner MacBook Pro and an upgraded Mac Mini

Apple has scheduled its much-anticipated product launch — widely believed to be the unveiling of smaller-sized iPad — for next Tuesday.

Getty ImagesInvitations to the Oct. 23 event at the California Theatre in San Jose went out five days later tech watchers had expected.

The smaller venue indicates the Oct. 23 unveiling won't be as large as the  iPhone 5 event held last month in San Francisco.

The invite, sent to a number of tech blogs and news outlets only hints as to what will be presented, and reads: "We've got a little more to show you."

A report on 9to5Mac, an independent Apple news site, said the iPad mini will share the stage with a slimmer 13-inch MacBook Pro, which has retina display, and a new Mac Mini. The last update to the Mac Mini came in July 2011, when the company upgraded the desktop with a fast processor.
