Apple TV Adds Hulu Plus

Hulu is already available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and other connected devices

Apple and Hulu have reached an agreement to bring Hulu Plus, the company’s subscription service, to Apple TV.

Starting Tuesday, Hulu Plus subscribers can stream the service’s TV shows and movies on their televisions using their Apple TV, something already possible with the Xbox 360, Roku and Playstation 3.

If you are not already a Hulu Plus customer, you can now subscribe through iTunes and pay the $8 a month as part of your overall bill.

Hulu confirmed news of the addition in a blog post.

Hulu, which is owned by NBC Universal, Fox, Disney and Providence Equity Partners, can still be accessed on a computers or tablet.

“Airplay,” a feature of Apple’s new Mountain Lion operating system, already enabled users to stream content from their computer onto their television using Apple TV.

Apple has sold 4 million Apple TV devices so far this year, an increase on the 2.8 million sold in 2011. Hulu Plus now boasts more than two million subscribers.
