Ariel Winter Goes on ‘Rant’ About Her Clothing Choices: ‘I’m Not a Whore’

“It’s SUMMER. Get over it. It’s hot, I’m obviously going to wear minimal clothes,” “Modern Family” actress writes

Ariel Winter was once again compelled to defend her clothing choices this week, going on a self-described Twitter “rant” in which the “Modern Family” actress declared, among other things, “I am not a whore.”

“Pretty annoyed about the focus on the fact that I wear shorts, and the commentary that I’m ‘squeezing’ into them or the idea that it’s not okay for me to wear shorts. It’s SUMMER. Get over it. It’s hot, I’m obviously going to wear minimal clothes,” Winter’s social-media jeremiad began.

Winter was presumably responding to criticism of an Instagram photo she posted of herself and her “squad” on Thursday, depicting Winter, in shorts and a skimpy top surrounded by fully clothed people.

Comments on the photo included “Everyone is wearing clothes and you are in your underwear…” and “At least your friends dress normal.”

In her Twitter post, Ariel continued, “I’m not going o suffer in a turtleneck to please anyone. I’m not a whore because I wear shorts and tank tops. I’m a normal girl. Also, I’m not ‘squeezing’ into anything. M shorts fit me and everything I’m doing is just fine.”

Winter then veered into a broader discussion about judging young women for their choices, clothing-related and otherwise.

“Please leave young women alone. We’re just living our lives. It’s really troubling that we even have to deal with this kind of stuff nowadays. Please stop criticizing [what] everything everyone does!!!!!”

This isn’t nearly the first time that Winter has been called to task for her wardrobe decisions. Notably, the actress was savaged by critics over the Memorial Day holiday for posting a photo of herself in a bikini.

“Respect the memorial day,” cautioned one commenter, who punctuated the comment with an eye-rolling emoji.

“bc nothing says happy Memorial Day like sneak peak at her pubes,” offered another.
