“It really is, I think, the most insane thing I’ve ever seen — ever seen on page and ever seen come to life,” Plaza told Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday. “It’s not just for kids and for cat lovers. It’s for everyone, really. It’s a gift to America.”
“I think people are going to be blown away by it, and I’m not kidding,” the “Parks and Recreation” star continued. “It’s really the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s so confusing. It operates on, I think, many levels of irony. So many, that I can’t even tap into them all. And I think Lifetime has maybe tapped into only one level.”
She seemed to suggest the movie will fall in so-bad-it’s-good territory, and recommended a side of wine when watching this holiday season in order to “get in the right mood.”
Plaza voices the Internet meme-turned-movie star, and revealed, “Grumpy had a bigger entourage than I did.”
Also a fun fact? Grumpy Cat’s agent is a total Hollywood cliché.
“I came up with a bunch of ideas, and one of my ideas was like, ‘Maybe Grumpy should be in a little box, and I’ll be in a human-size litter box,” Plaza said while referencing a promotional photo shoot. “And he was like, ‘Grumpy will not be in a litter box or associated with bodily functions.'”
