“Little Mermaid Live!” star Auli’i Cravalho has been cast as Leslie Mann’s co-star in Amazon’s 10-episode “The Power” series based on Naomi Alderman’s novel of the same name, a rep for the streaming service confirmed to TheWrap.

“The Power” takes place in a world where all teenage girls develop the power to electrocute people and then find out they can awaken this ability in older women. Mann will play the charming and ambitious politician Margot Cleary-Lopez in the series, which will be directed by Reed Morano.

Cravalho will play Jos, Margot’s daughter.

Here is how Amazon describes the family dynamic:

Margot is an American politician on the rise and until now, not only a woman in a man’s world, but one with a questionable taste in jackets according to online trolls. Vital, charming and incredibly smart, Margot comes to see that power resides with strength rather than authority. As her career takes flight, it’s her husband Rob and daughter Jos who privately feel the effects of her success most keenly; for one of them, where previously there was conflict now comes a greater understanding, and for the other where there was love, comes hurt and betrayal.

Alderman is serving as creator and executive producer on the Amazon adaptation, with Claire Wilson and Sarah Quintrell on as co-executive producer. An all-female writers room also includes Whit Anderson, Stacy Osei-Kuffour and novelist Rebecca Levene. Jane Featherstone executive produces for her Sister Pictures banner. Naomi de Pear and Morano also executive produce, and Tim Bricknell produces.
