‘Bachelor’ Alum Chris Soules Bought Alcohol Shortly Before Fatal Car Crash, Prosecutor Says

Reality TV veteran also had ”empty and partially consumed open alcoholic beverages“ in and around his vehicle, county attorney says

“Bachelor” alum Chris Soules purchased alcohol shortly before last week’s fatal crash, the prosecutor in Soules’ case said.

In a filing on Tuesday, Buchanan County, Iowa, attorney Shawn M. Harden said that Soules bought alcohol at a convenience store prior to the crash that claimed the life of Kenneth Mosher, ABC News reports.

Harden also alleges that the reality TV veteran had “empty and partially consmed open” alcoholic beverages “located in and around his vehicle.”

Soules was taken into custody by the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office after the pickup truck he was driving rear-ended a John Deere tractor at approximately 8 p.m. on April 24.

Soules was arrested at his home near Arlington, Iowa, and charged with leaving the scene of an accident where a death occurred. He was taken to Buchanan County Jail where he was released on a $10,000 bond.

Papers files by Soules’ lawyers on Monday contended that the “Bachelor” alum should not face charges, stating that Soules satisfied the Iowa code governing conduct in such cases.

However, Harden painted a very different picture of the situation in his response to Soules’ motion to dismiss, stating that the Soules “did attempt to obfuscate the immediate facts and circumstances surrounding the incident, including his level of intoxication and an explanation of the empty and partially consumed open alcoholic beverages located in and around his vehicle.”

Soules’ attorney has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment on the newest filing.
