Michael Nance, who competed on the eighth season of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” was found dead on Monday morning at the age of 31.

“APD is working the case. At this point it is not a suspicious death and the manner will be determined by the Medical Examiner,” a spokesperson for the Austin Police Department confirmed to TheWrap. “Officers were dispatched to a location in the 300 block of W. Mary Street at 2:10 am in reference an unresponsive male. Upon arriving they located the unresponsive male who was later identified as Michael Nance, 31 years old.”

Nance was pronounced dead at 2:54 a.m.

Nance competed for Emily Maynard’s heart in 2012 but he was sent home mid-season. Another contestant on the season, Chris Bukowski, took to Twitter when he heard about the news.

“Extremely difficult learning the news of Michael Nance’s passing. He was a gentle man with a huge heart. He’ll be missed but not forgotten,” he wrote.

“My heart breaks to hear about the passing of my friend Michael Nance,” Sean Lowe, ABC’s 17th Bachelor, wrote. “He was a sweet man with a kind soul. We all loved him on Bachelorette.”

Elan Gale, a producer on the “Bachelor” franchise, tweeted, “Very sad to hear about the passing of Michael Nance. He was a very sweet and kind man. My thoughts are with his family and friends.”
