Former First Lady Barbara Bush Has 8 Toes, Says Granddaughter Jenna Bush Hager (Video)

Here is a first-lady factoid you probably didn’t expect

White House historians have compiled plenty of interesting facts about the first ladies of the United States, such as the fact that no portrait of Martha Jefferson is known to exist and Mary Todd Lincoln was the first woman to hold seances in the White House. But Jenna Bush Hager, granddaughter of former FLOTUS Barbara Bush, might have revealed the strangest factoid yet.

On the “Today” show on Monday morning, Bush Hager was discussing going barefoot in the house with co-host Kathie Lee Gifford when she revealed that her grandmother is “missing a toe on each foot,” something that she admitted Barbara Bush had never made publicly known.

“But she has darling feet and they look cute!” she said. “I think it’s the second [toes]. Granny, I’m sorry I shouldn’t have said it. It happened with age.”

Gifford looked stunned upon hearing this revelation. “She had them before and now she doesn’t?” she asked. “They disappeared?!”

Eventually Bush Hager began to realize this might be an instance of too much information. “I feel terrible now,” she said with a nervous grin. “Should I be embarrassed?”
