The CW has placed series orders for “Batwoman,” “Riverdale” spinoff “Katy Keene” and a new take on “Nancy Drew.”

Meanwhile, a series order of “Glamorous” is still in contention, with a decision to come at a later time. However, the network opted not to go forward with the current pilot of “The Lost Boys” and is planning to reshoot it. The CW has passed on the pilot for “Jane the Virgin” spinoff “Jane the Novella,” according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Based on the characters from DC, “Batwoman” is written by Caroline Dries, who executive produces with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Geoff Johns, David Nutter, and director Marcos Siega.

Per the network: Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane (star Ruby Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.”

“Katy Keene,” a spinoff from the CW’s popular series “Riverdale,” star Ashleigh Murray as an older version of her character from the Archie Comics high school drama. The move will necessitate Murray’s exit from “Riverdale” as a full-time cast member.

Per the network: In a timeless New York City, as enchanting as “Riverdale” is moody, aspiring fashion designer Katy Keene (Lucy Hale) meets Josie McCoy (Murray), fresh off the bus to chase her musical dreams. Their world is populated with kindred-spirit starving artists, including mysterious socialite Pepper Smith (Julia Chan) and Broadway-bound performer Jorge Lopez – and his drag queen alter ego, Ginger (Jonny Beauchamp). While their climb to the top is rife with obstacles, this found family will stop at nothing to see their names in lights. Based on the Archie Comics characters.

“Katy Keene” is written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Archie Comics CEO and Publisher Jon Goldwater will executive produce, along with director Maggie Kiley.

“Nancy Drew” will star newcomer Kennedy McMann. Noga Landau, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage write and executive produce along with Lis Rowinski. Melinda Hsu Taylor is also an Executive Producer. Director Larry Teng co-executive produces.

Per the network: Set in the summer after her high school graduation, 18-year-old Nancy Drew (McMann) thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined.

“Nancy Drew” is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Fake Empire. “Batwoman” is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. “Katy Keene” is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.
