We already knew that Josh Gad, Dan Stevens and Luke Evans could perform “Beauty and the Beast” for the big-screen, but can they hack it on a random Los Angeles crosswalk? James Corden intended to find out exactly that on Wednesday.
The boys joined the “Late Late Show” host and his Crosswalk Theater Company last night for “Crosswalk the Musical: Beauty and the Beast.”
That’s exactly what it sounds like, by the way, with the fellas reprising their Disney feature film roles on the street near the CBS lot. Not when the “Do Not Cross” hand was blinking, of course.
Oh, and if you’re wondering who played Belle, just reference the photo above.
Gad and Evans were enthused the whole time, while Stevens perfectly played the skeptic.
“Who wants to do it in front of millions of people in film, when you can do it in front of half-a-dozen Lyft and Uber drivers?” Gad summed up.
The “Downton Abbey” alum became a quick convert, however, for his grand finale dance scene. Unfortunately, a quicker-than-expected green light broke up the big kiss — but it definitely went down.
The curtain-call seemed to particularly annoy motorists in the area. Anyone who has driven through L.A. can completely understand why. Tale as old as time.
